called BJP's "Versatile General".Atalji entrusted Vijay Goel with the position of Union Minister of State responsible for the Prime Minister's Office and the prestigious Planning Commission.
Subsequently, giving credit to Vijay Goel's versatility he was also given the charge of diverse portfolios like the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports as Union Minister in the NDA Government from 2001 until 2004
Bharatiya Janata Party's National General Secretary scored a 'hat trick' by winning three consecutive [11th, 12th & 13th] Lok Sabha Parliamentary seats from Sadar and Chandni Chowk. He started his political career as the Youth President, Bharatiya Janata Party. He was the first to start holding weekly Janata Adalats in his constituency.
Starting as the treasurer of ABVP, he became the General Secretary of BJYM, Delhi and then the All India Secretary of BJYM.
He then went onto to become the Secretary of BJP, Delhi. He later became the General Secretary, BJP District, Delhi Sadar and never looked back.
He began his political climb during college days at the prestigious SRCC at Delhi University by first becoming the Joint Secretary of the elite Students Union, rose to become Supreme Councillor at DU and went on to become DUSU President.
