The Monsoon Session of Parliament will start from July 18 and end on 10th August. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Vijay Goel said that 68 Bills in the Lok Sabha and 40 Bills in the Rajya Sabha are pending and hence it is very necessary for the opposition to cooperate in passing these important Bills during 18-days Monsoon Session.
Shri Goel called on former Prime Minister and Congress leader Dr. Manmohan Singh today at his residence. Being a senior and respected leader of the Congress, Shri Goel sought his cooperation in running the Parliament smoothly during the ensuing session.
Shri Goel said that Dr. Manmohan Singh welcomes the initiative of the government in reaching out to various opposition leaders and Members for running the House. Dr. Singh also expressed that it is the responsibility of both the ruling and opposition parties to let both the Houses work smoothly.
Shri Goel said the last Budget session was a complete wash-out. The productivity of Rajya Sabha was only 8% and in Lok Sabha the productivity was only 4%.
